CHURCHILL: Certainly Churchills animal cover is higher than most with up to £3,000 for vet's fees for each problem that arises each year and up to £1,000 to help recover you pet if it is lost or stolen. Despite the generally low cost of insuring your dog compared to insuring your car or motorbike you still shouldn't turn your nose up at their extra 15% discount which can be had if you buy your pet insurance online. |

DIRECTLINE: DirectLine's pet insurance is jam packed with discounts, offers and incentives starting with the limited time only offer to pay £20 toward the cost of vaccinations. You can also get a 10% discount if you insure more than one pet with them and a 10% discount for buying online. They also offer to do your good deed for the month by giving 10% of your premium to the Scottish SPCA. All this with top level cover that protects your dog per condition, not the total amount per year. |

RSPCA: Obviously you would expect the level of cover to exceed most general insurers and you would be right with up to £6000 per condition with their gold level cover and up to £3000 with their silver level. The rest of the cover should be just as comprehensive with this venture being backed by AXA. 20% of the premium you pay goes directly to the charity to help with their running costs. They are also offering a 5% discount for applying online. |

LIVERPOOLVICTORIA: LV's pet insurance comes with a 10% online purchase discount which is quite high for this type of insurance, with two levels of cover to choose from depending on the level of vet fees you want to protect yourself from. Their pet insurances have no upper age limit and you get access to 4 helplines. We were most impressed with the clearly laid out benefits page. |

MORETH>N: More Th>n's pet insurance has the largest discount in this market with a huge 15% if you buy online, more then three times the discounts offered elsewhere. Cover is comprehensive too, with older dogs not being turned away either, but always have a good read through the policy to make sure you understand the amounts that you are truly covered for. |

POST OFFICE: The Post Office's reach has continued to expand over the years becoming a one stop shop for all things relating to life in the UK from home phone lines to insurers to broadband (the less said about the Westlife ads the better though). Mostly brokered deals so prices will be competitive but still likely comprehensive. Something 'budgety' about their branding but no signs of the usual no frills stuff you see with supermarkets. |
